Gifted Foxes have developed a new label management tool for the Atlassian Confluence platform, which enables you to make small or large changes to labels across all of your content.
Unlike other label management tools available for Confluence, Label Manager for Confluence by Gifted Foxes is powerful, yet simple, searching across multiple possible criteria and the ability to find content across your entire site, not just a single space at a time!
Born out of the need to make sweeping changes to labels in our own Confluence site, and not having an efficient way to do so with the built-in functionality of Confluence. We had thousands of pages needing to be updated manually, which quickly became an insurmountable task.
We were coming from documentation that for the most part had been haphazardly labelled into a new world where a labelling strategy had been developed and the desire to apply these standardized labels across the content.
After doing some quick calculations, the task was identified to require many days of manual effort, assuming no manual mistakes were made along the way. When mentioning this task to a co-worker, they suggested there must be a better way, which turned into a prototype for the label manager.
Using this early prototype, we turned this task from many days of effort into one that took less than an hour to complete. New labels were added, multiple defunct labels removed, old labels replaced with new preferred labels, and incorrectly spelt labels across many documents were corrected.
We thought there must be others with this same problem, and we will also want to make some changes again in the future, so why not make an easy to use Label Manager for Confluence and share it with the world?
